Overview

I lead a team that created a new site for West Side Music Academy. The site told their story in a fun, engaging way and made updating the site easy and intuitive. As team leader and head developer I used my knowledge of Wordpress, Bootstrap, and Less as well as PHP and Javascript to create a site that was responsive, user friendly, and optimized for speed.


About the Client

West Side Music Academy is a thriving, community-driven music school in West Seattle that employs 12 teachers and serves over 200 students a month.

They needed a new site that conveyed the story of their school in a fun and engaging way and made updating the site easy and intuitive.

Design

To emphasize their story the site emphasizes media like photos, videos and audio, as well as testimonials from students and parents. The color scheme was inspired by their logo with warm and energetic colors of red, orange, and yellow.

Development

For development I chose to use Bootstrap and a dynamic stylesheet language called Less for increased flexibility and speed up the development time.

The site is fully responsive incorporating mobile, tablet, and desktop sizes. The site includes pages for teachers and classes that dynamically update main category pages as content is updated. The site also includes a calendar, blog, and media gallery for photos, videos and audio.
